Pedagogical High School "Spiru Haret" is located in downtown Buzau.The school is one of representative institutions for higher Buzau county, both because of its 170 years of education and the status of "trainer of trainers".The school also includes high school classes, classes in primary and secondary schools. Our students are aged between 7 and 18 years. Out of a total of 1200 pupils approximately 12% of the students are with CES (like difficulties in learning,economical).

More than 40% of our students come from rural disadvantaged areas. Those who are from more remote areas are accommodated in boarding schools.

The whole activity of high school teacher training is organised in such a way as to create an environment within the framework of both national and European standards.

The large number of migrant parents to work abroad (from Buzau county) is a particularly important issue for Pedagogical High School "Spiru Haret", because by the specific activities, advisers need to offer educational and emotional assistance programs for the children left at home and for their tutors.

The main foreign languages taught in our school are English and French, but Spanish and Italian are also required. School is involved in several national and international educational programmes such as: Comenius, eTwinning, Ecoschools.

Also our school is involved in projects with non-governmental organizations like Intercomunity Development Association for ater Supply and Waste Water Treatment Buzau 2008, commercial companies such as Water Company Buzau and Environmental Protection Agency Buzau.

The participation of our school in this project will bring the following benefits: it will our teachers the opportunity to contact with European practices and its innovations, to cooperate, to exchange ideas and to establish valuable partnerships with colleagues across Europe. These partnerships will be involved both fellow teachers who are not familiar with such pedagogical experiences, especially in teaching students to be motivated to communicate in foreign languages. Students will have the opportunity to adopt innovative methods of European education, benefit in their preparation for life, and also become active citizens in Europe through direct contact with pupils from other European countries.

Our school will become the centre of resources for the organization of symposia, seminars, regional conferences and national workshops on the themes of water and environmental protection.
