LPS”Petrache Triscu” Craiova is the only public Sportive High School in the city of Craiova, Region of Dolj, Romania. Our
establishment is a vocational sportive institution, where students develop their talents and practice performance sports, but
also study Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, History, Civic Education, Geography, Music, and so on.
Our institution is a modern one with special sportive places, halls, playgrounds, where our pupils practise many sports:
athletics, fencing, badminton, judo, Greco-Roman and freestyle fights, gymnastics, karate.
Our school has a history of 121 years of existence. There are over 600 pupils, aged between 7 and 18 years. Our Sportive
High School is situated in a disadvantaged area, where lot of factories have closed. Most of the students come from rural
areas or from difficult social and economical situations and we support them with special programs.. The pupils' parents are
not rich and many are facing social and economical problems. Some of the pupils’ parents are working abroad. The school
offers facilities for poor families. Our high school offers food and special places to spend time over the week.
We are also involved in many other kinds of activities: artistic, cultural, musical ones in which our students love to take
part, getting a new European dimension.
Our school is involved in some partnerships with different educational factors like The Oltenia Museum, The Regional
Agency for the Environmental Protection, NGOs and the University of Craiova.
Our pupils have been involved in volunteering activities within some international, national and regional programs. These
activities were focused on actions of environmental cleaning and protection thus contributing to the creation of a European
character of our students. Our school organized a series of projects, symposia, debates and contests were done, with
environmental development topics.
Extracurricular educational activities, contests, competitions encourage the students to discover their creativity and talent,
make them confident, help them to overcome difficulties, to be integrated , to break the barriers , to fight against any form
of discrimination, to be responsible about their future career, to become active citizens of Europe.
It plays an important role in encouraging the development of an international awareness of cultural and natural
environment among young people in Europe.
